Snapshot Review: Sala VIP Miro Lounge, Barcelona El Prat Airport

The Save My Cents just recently returned from our babymoon to Barcelona for our second child! As part of the flight back, we were able to enjoy a visit to the Sala VIP Miro Lounge. The lounge beat our expectations and helped the two hours we had up to boarding time pass by very quickly. The following blog post was written with the help of Amelia Mecham, a great supporter of Save My Cents. Thank you, Amelia!
An overview of the lounge
Just after passport control and security checks on airside, the Sala VIP Miro lounge appears to be recently renovated with clean, new furniture. It’s a very large lounge compared to most lounges that I have been to around the world, and it appears that a third-party vendor (e.g., it’s not Iberia Airlines) has taken over management of the lounge, elevating the experience closer to that of an international flagship lounge.
The lounge has access via stairs and an elevator. Once you come out of passport control, head towards Gate D. You can find the stairs or elevator in front of the Burger King.
The Miro lounge is very family-friendly and even has some seating areas just for kids as well as a spacious mother’s lounge in the restroom. Plus, children under 5 years old are admitted for free. However, if you want to escape the kids, there are plenty of quieter spots in the lounge. There is a prayer room, although we didn’t visit it, and a quiet room, which was too cold for me to stay in, but they’re good options for resting.

The views!

The lounge wraps around the upper floor of Terminal 1 and offers fantastic views of the terminal while offering a quiet space as it’s well insulated from outside noise.

We had access to the Miro lounge through  Priority Pass , which comes free with multiple travel perk heavy credit cards. However, this lounge is specifically for intercontinental Non-Schengen flights, so depending on your destination you may or may not be eligible to access it even if you have the Priority Pass.

Here I am lounging on one of the chairs that offers a view of the terminal. The chair is a lounge chair so it worked great for my pregnant belly.
The food and beverage
We especially loved the food during our visit. There was lots of selection and the food was constantly being replenished.
They had so much variety for delicious hot food, including soups, salads, and noodle soups (not shown as they were restocking).
For myself, I grabbed a tuna soup, a pumpkin soup (a little bland), and a bread roll that I added a spread to.
They also had other baked goods like empanadas.
We also really appreciated all the clear labeling of allergens, as we are a no pork, no shellfish household.
The charcuterie bar also looked nice, if that’s your cup of tea. We weren’t able to partake in most of this due to our no pork diet.
At the salad bar, the pickles and olives were excellent!
They also had a great selection of desserts, but unfortunately, I was too stuffed to try any!
And of course, an airport lounge meal wouldn’t be complete without alcohol.
They have a variety of spirits, wine and beer.
However, the Miro lounge also had a variety of non-alcoholic drinks. They offer yogurts, juices and milk.
Additionally, there were plenty of sodas including coke, lemonade, and sparkling juices, many of which came in these attractive glass bottles.
Kid friendly
After eating, you can easily keep kids entertained pre-flight. There were some areas of seating that were made just for kids! Lots of small chairs, tables, and even a creative elephant-shaped seat.
For families with small children, the restroom area includes a spacious mother’s lounge, with space to change diapers and breastfeed.
Additionally, the lounge was massive and likely recently renovated! The pictures really don’t do it justice but this just captures maybe 1/6 of the lounge.
For instance, this pano probably shows about a quarter of the lounge. It’s also the area away from the food so it’s quieter (for any adults wanting to escape the kids’ section).
I also took a peek inside the prayer room and quiet room, which were not pictured. The quiet room has multiple chairs that allowed you to lie down and take a nap, and it was dimly lit. However, it was so cold that I would probably freeze if I tried to nap there!
The Wifi was free and strong, the service was friendly and our plates were being cleared frequently. Overall, it was a great visit and I would definitely come here again!
