Capsule wardrobe

Minimalist Wardrobe: October 2016

Starting this year, I became inspired to have a capsule wardrobe, or as I prefer to call it, a minimalist wardrobe. The goal is to have fewer, high-quality items. This reduces the total spend (and waste) on clothing, and also the amount of time spent getting ready in the morning. As part of that, I’ve also gone #nomakeup and I began shopping more re-used clothing mainly via Poshmark and EBay. Here’s a tally of what my fall/winter closet looks like.

Now, one might look at this and ask, why so many sweaters? In the cold winter months, I’m often wearing 3 – 4 layers before I feel warm enough in a 65-degree office environment without plodding around in a giant poncho or blanket all season long, so there’s a physical requirement of more layers. I do think maybe I could go with one or two fewer, we’ll see!

Not included in my wardrobe: Shoes (only have like 7 pairs), jackets, intimates / underwear, workout clothes.
